He graduated from Shanghai medical university and got the Medicine Degree in July 1985, and obtained the master and PhD degree, majored in Neurology, from Soochow Medical College in 1991 and 1999, respectively. Since August 1985, he has been working in the Department of Neurology in the Affiliated Hospitals of Soochow Medical College. As a visiting professor, he went to France in 1989 and 2001 and received training on the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic diseases. In 1999, he was awarded as the ministerial young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contribution, and was elected to develop as the "333" cross-century leader of the second level in Jiangsu Province in 2004. He was chosen in the sixth peak talent training project in 2004 and was honored the outstanding scientific and technical worker of Jiangsu Province. He also enjoyed the special allowance of State Council and many other honors, and was selected as the leading talents in Medicine of Jiangsu Province in 2011. Now he serves as the vice-chairman of Neurology Association of Jiangsu Province, the committee of neurology branch in Chinese Medical Association. He also acts as the deputy managing editor of "International Journal of Cerebrovascular Disease", "Chinese Journal of Cerebrovascular Disease (Electronic Version)" and "Chinese Journal of Clinical Neuroscience", and also the editor of "the Journal of the Neurological" and "Journal of Clinical Neurology". He has been engaged in both basic and clinical research of Parkinson's disease, cerebrovascular disease and sleep disturbance for many years. So far he has published more than 100 papers including more than 30 SCI articles in core journals of neurology in China and abroad, and three monographs as well. As the PI, he received two grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China and five provincial research projects. In addition, as the academic backbone, he participated in the Major State Basic Research Development Program, National High Technology Research and Development Program, and the key project of National Natural Science Foundation of China. Due to his great achievements in the research of neurological diseases, he got ten Science and Technology progress awards from National Defense ministry and Jiangsu Province.
