Biography
Constanca Figueiredo is interested in the in vitro production of genetically modified blood cells such as megakaryocytes and platelets using gene regulatory and editing strategies combined with the used of bioreactor technologies. Her scientific work is focused on the high variability of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) remains a major hurdle in transplantation and to the application of in vitro pharmed cell products. Constanca Figueiredo research group aims at the development of innovative strategies to decrease the immunogenicity of cells, tissues and organs to facilitate their use in allogeneic transplantation.
