Sharareh Akhavan
Associate professor/ Senior lecturer at the School of Health, Care and Welfare at Mälardalen University
I have studied Biomedical Sciences and Public Health Sciences at Karolinska Institutet. My dissertation is in the field of occupational health, the title is: "The health and working conditions of immigrant women in Sweden."
My research is focused on occupational health and equity in care and health.
I participate in a national project “Health on Equal Terms”, which is operated by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL) and I am part of the research team from Mälardalen University constitutes research support in the project.
Since August 2013 I collaborate with the Swedish National Public Health Institute in a project on "Sweden's National minorities' health."
I supervise two PhD students together with my colleagues Professor Per Tillgren and Professor Lene Maritn. The first PhD project is about "Inequalities in health care - access to and participation in mammographic screening in a county in the Mälardalen region”. The other PhD project is about "Stress among nurses in emergency departments in public and private hospitals in Thailand."
