Biography
Dr. Vasil Galat is an Assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Vasil is an expert in human ES cells and iPSC. He developed the first disease model hES cells and was part of the group that published a global review of genetic diversity in human stem cells. As the head of the stem cell group for the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago he has produced many iPSC lines from rare childhood conditions and described a novel type of embryonic stem cells that contribute to a developing yolk sack.
