Biography
The objectives of my research is to understand the interactions between virus and the host defense system occurring between the first 12 to 24 hours of infection (innate immunity) which leads to susceptibility or resistance to disease (acquisition of adaptive immunity). Previously, the research projects under this objective dealt with: a gender-based difference to the pathogenesis of a picornavirus [the D variant of encephalomyocarditis virus {EMCV-D] and a DNA vaccine for herpes simplex virus, type 1 (HSV-1). My ongoing research involves HSV-1, cytokine signaling pathways.
