Biography
Dr Luo's research focuses on urinary bladder inflammation and cancer, specifically the interplay between the bladder and the immune system. This field is challenging due to a lack of proper animal models. In the early of the 2000s, Dr. Luo's team used genetic engineering technology to develop a novel transgenic murine model that expresses the membrane form of the well-defined model antigen ovalbumin (OVA) as a self-antigen on the urothelium. This model can develop autoimmune-based bladder inflammation upon introduction of OVA-specific T and/or B cells.
