    Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries may Benefit from Osteopathic Treatment

    Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, pure autonomic failure, and multiple system atrophy are all alpha-synucleinopathies. These are all progressive neurodegenerative disorders marked by abnormal misfolding and buildup of the protein alpha-synuclein (syn) in brain neurons, axons, and glial cells, as well as other organs. After a central nervous system lesion, Neurogenic Bowel Dysfunction (NBD) refers to bowel dysfunction caused by a loss of neurological control. Bowel symptoms such as bowel obstructions, constipation, stomach discomfort, and edoema are prevalent. Passive immunotherapy, on the other hand, has been shown to be safe in clinical studies but less successful than in preclinical circumstances.
