Hiroshi Okamoto received his MD and PhD from Juntendo University in Tokyo, JAPAN. He was trained as a resident in Internal Medicine at Jichi Medical University in Tochigi, Japan and as a fellow in Divison of Rheumatology at Jichi Medical University. He trained as a post-doc and a molecular biologist at Howard Hughes Medical Institute /Univeristy of California San Francisco from 1995 to1997. He has been assistant Professor of Medicine at Institte of Rheumatology, Tokyo Womens Medical University in Tokyo since 2005 and has been associate Professor since 2008. He has been a Director at Minami-Otsuka Institte of Thechnology, Minami-Otsuka Clinic since 2009.
His research interest has been focused on transcriptional regulation of genes involved in the immunological regulations, such as NF-kB, CIITA and HIV-1 Tat. In addition, his research interests are the pathogenesis and therapeutic strategies of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus especially NPSLE, including the role of cytokines and chemokines.
