Biography

L La Mantia was born in Biella (Piemonte, BI, Italy) on 27/03/1951. She graduated in Medicine and Surgery (1976) and post-graduated in Neurology (1980) and in Neuropathology (1988) at the University of Milan, Italy. From 1983 to 2010 she was Senior Neurologist at the Department of Clinical Neurology of the Neurological Institute “C. Besta”, Milan, Italy, involved in clinical care and scientific research activities, with focus on diagnosis, neuroimmunology, immunogenetic aspects and treatments of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and related inflammatory diseases of the Central Nervous system (CNS), Headache and Tolosa Hunt Syndrome. She participated in clinical trials multicentre national and international of phase II-phase III on disease-modifying therapies of MS, carried out according to GCP. Since 2010, she is clinical consultant neurologist of MS Centers in Milan, Italy ( I.R.C.C.S. Santa Maria Nascente Fondazione Don Gnocchi; Department of Neurosciences and Stroke Unit Azienda Osp Niguarda Ca Granda ) scientific and editorial consultant of the Multiple Sclerosis Cochrane Group and Rare Diseases of the Central Nervous System, Italy. L LC Mantia has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers in the domain of neurology, neuroimmunology and Cochrane systematic reviews.
