Osama M. Ahmed, (born in November 24, 1970) is a professor of physiology at Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University. He has granted Ph. D. in Physiology from Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt at year 2000. He is working in different research fields including diabetes mellitus, obesity, carcinogenesis, drug-induced toxicity, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperoxaluria, hyperhomocysteinemia, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and assessment of medicinal plant their constituents as well as novel synthetic organic compounds as protective, preventive and therapeutic remedies. He holds more than 100 publications in the fields of his expertise in international journals. He has written two book chapters titled "Recent Advances in Chemistry and Biology of Natural Products" and "a New Look Hypothyroidism". He is a DeputyEditor of Beni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences (BJBAS). He is a Co-PI of Experimental Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Research Project granted by Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF), Egypt. He is a principal investigator and co-investigator in many research projects. He has taught physiology course for students in Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education (Biology Branch), and Faculty of Arts (Psychology Branch) in Beni-Suef University (Egypt) and for students in Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine (Nahda University, Beni-Suef, Egypt).
His research interests are: stem cell research, diabetes mellitus, maternal hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism effects on fetuses and offspring, obesity, carcinogenesis, drug-induced toxicity, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperoxaluria, hyperhomocysteinemia, and assessment of medicinal plant and their constituents as well as novel synthetic organic compounds as protective, preventive and therapeutic remedies.
