Roumen Balabanov is a board certified neurologist practicing in the field of autoimmune diseases of the nervous system, including multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica. He graduated from The Medical Academy of Sofia, Bulgaria and had his neurology training at The University of Chicago. Currently, Dr. Balabanov is an Associate Professor of Neurology and a Senior Attending at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, and the Associate Director of the University’s Multiple Sclerosis Center. In addition to patient care, he is involved in research clinical trials, experimental neuroimmunology and glial biology.
