Cropping system is defined as the Pattern of crops taken up for a given piece of land, or sequence in which the crops are cultivated on piece of land over a particular period of time and their interaction with farm resources and other farm enterprises. Types of Cropping Systems: Mono cropping; Crop Rotation; Sequential Cropping; Inter Cropping; Relay Cropping. A cropping system refers to the type and sequence of crops grown and practices used for growing them. It encompasses all cropping sequences practiced over space and time based on the available technologies of crop production. Advantages With multiple cropping the risk of total loss from drought, pests and diseases is reduced. 3 Multiple cropping enables the fertility of the soil. Other advantages include reduced fuel and labor requirements.
