Stroke

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is disrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die in minutes. A stroke is a medical emergency, and prompt treatment is decisive. Early action can reduce brain damage and other difficulties. The good news is that many less Americans die of stroke now than in the past. Active treatments can also help prevent disability from stroke.

It is caused by a blocked blood vessel or bleeding in the brain. The symptoms of a stroke contain a sudden severe headache, weakness, numbness, vision problems, confusion, trouble walking or talking, dizziness and slurred speech.
