Toxicology is “the study of the adverse effects of chemical, physical, or biological agents on living organisms and the ecosystem respectively. Government agencies conduct human health and ecological risk assessments to ascertain the effects of a chemical or other substance on human health and/or the environment. The hazard identification and dose-response assessment steps are primarily based on a number of different tests where animals are exposed to the chemical or test substance. These tests are called toxicity tests.
