Assisted fertilization is the most advanced treatment for the infertile couple, with implantation rates ranging from 27 to 35%. Genetic diagnosis prior to pre-implantation transfer is an established and consolidated procedure in the world and has become popular due to the postponement of maternity, either for financial reasons or for professional reasons, thus raising the risk of genetic alterations. PGD (Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis) and PGS (Pre-Gestational Chromosome Screening) aim to avoid the transfer of embryos with genetic or chromosomal alterations, allowing the transfer of healthy embryos thus avoiding the pregnancy of compromised fetuses. In Brazil these tests are rarely used and it is only allowed in cases where there is a risk of rare, serious diseases that can be fatal or at least debilitating. The population needs to be clarified and the technique should be diffused.
