Bionics

Bionics is a term for bio-inspired information technology, typically including three systems that bio-morphic (eg neuromorphic) and bio-inspired electronic/optical devices, autonomous artificial sensor-processor-activator prostheses and various devices built into the human body and living-artificial interactive symbioses, e.g. brain-controlled devices or robots.

People with amputations face four clinical issues that affect their ability to return to work and function as they did before. All the issues derive from the fact that without power, people must use the muscles of their residual limb, their opposing limb, their hips or their back to move the prosthesis.
