The cornea is the clear front part of the eye that covers the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber. Corneal disease is a serious condition that leads to clouding, distortion, scarring and eventually blindness. There are various types of corneal disease. The 3 major types are keratoconus, Fuchs' epithelial tissue dystrophy and bullous keratopathy.
Corneal diseases are treatable by preventing risk factors of the disease. Corneal infections are one of the major corneal disease.
