Diagnostic Methods

The methods or procedures used to diagnose a particular disease called as Diagnostic Methods. Most diagnostic tests are conducted on the living patients and some of the tests can be done on a dead person as part of an autopsy or post-mortem. Some are done as a physical examination with the hands of a skilled practitioner. Some tests are done in pathology labs with the help of specimens or samples. Medical tests can have value when results are abnormal by explaining the cause of the patient symptoms.

Diagnostic techniques and procedures encompass all investigations and tests intended to identify the cause of an illness or disorder. They include laboratory tests for infectious agents and imaging techniques, such as radiology and ultrasound examination.
