Unlike artificial insemination wherein the sperm is introduced into uterus, in IVF, the sperm and egg are fertilized outside the uterus in laboratory conditions. The fertilized egg is then introduced into woman’s uterus. Most often, IVF is not the first treatment suggested for infertility because of its complex nature and costs involved in it.
