Otitis Media with Effusion (OME) is characterized by a nonpurulent effusion of the middle ear that may be either mucoid or serious. Symptoms involve hearing loss or aural fullness but typically do not involve pain or fever. Serous otitis media, a specific type of otitis media with effusion caused by transudate formation.
