Modeling is based on a recently proposed conceptualization of configuration domain, which is a synthesis and extension of the main approaches to configuration. Concepts of the conceptualization are components, resources, contexts, functions and constraints. The conceptualization was evaluated through a study of modeling equipment. The conceptualization matched the modeling needs in the case product. However, present some possibilities for utilizing the conceptualization in the product development process.
The survey will review major current research efforts and the problems and solutions they identify and the trends that they reveal, especially in regard to building product modeling issues. The result of these perspectives will be to identify scenarios of future evolution of building product modeling, with an assessment of their likelihood of coming to be, and the critical issues needed to accomplish them.
