The thyroid gland is a small butterfly-shaped gland located in the lower part of the neck, below Adam's apple. The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormones are thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) which plays a vital role in regulating body metabolism. The thyroid uses iodine, to make its hormones. Deficiency of thyroid hormones leads to thyroid disorders.
